Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian practice of healing. Previously, a kahuna or doctor would be called into a family context to uncover problems, practice forgiveness, and release each other from accusations, resentment, and guilt. These doctors believed that conflicts and resentment eventually cause illness. Since then, Ho'oponopono has been updated and used for many different types of healing methods.

The practice in simplicity repeating the following:

"I am sorry"

"Please forgive me"

"I thank you"

"I love you"


Ho'oponopono is a simple but profound tool that will open your heart to positive feelings of love and gratitude, to goodness and light. People often carry anger, shame or other negative emotions and with this practice, you have a simple tool to deal with this.

With Ho'oponopono you get simple practices that help you forgive yourself and others.


Basically, you just say them. No need to feel anything special, imagine anything or otherwise complicate this process. Compare it to breathing - just do it.

Once you have learned the practice, you can use it spontaneously as needed. For example, during or after an argument, you can silently use Ho'oponopono and feel your stress resolve.

But perhaps best of all is to use the Ho'oponopono phrases as a forgiveness mantra by repeating the phrases until the mood improves and you feel a deep reconciliation and understanding that the harmony has been restored.

The end result is that you can think about the event and/or the other person without negative emotions. If your negative feelings return, you can simply try the Ho'oponopono process again.

Step 1: I AM SORRY

The first step is to realize that you are responsible for everything in your mind, even if it seems to be "outside" you. When you accept it, it is very natural to ask for forgiveness.


Don't worry about who you ask. Just ask! Please forgive me. But mean it.


Again, it does not matter who or what you thank. Thank your body for all it does for you. Thank you for being the best you can be. Thank you for what it was that forgave you.

Step 4: I LOVE YOU

Same as before. It does not matter who you tell. Say it to your body, say it to the air you breathe, to the house you live in. Say it to your challenges. Just say and mean it.
